A crash in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County involving a Tesla that was on autopilot occurred on June 23rd.
The Tesla crashed into a truck providing traffic control on the Pennsylvania turnpike at the mile marker 48.8 in Plum. The driver, an 18-year-old Michigan man, was headed east when he hit the back of a semi-truck, which was stationary and providing traffic control due to a closed lane.
The driver of the Tesla was in the middle lane, as was the stopped truck.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the car lost control while on Autopilot and the 18-year-old was charged with careless driving. No injuries were reported in the crash.
