The horrific crash on Highway 99 in Stanislaus County finally has an identified victim – Armando Beltran.
Beltran, a 54 year old man from Turlock, was driving a sedan south in the northbound lanes near Lander Avenue. He then crashed head-on with a northbound Tesla at 3:17 am according to California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Beltran’s vehicle then landed on its side and caught fire. Turlock firefighters responded to the scene with two crews working in conjunction. One crew worked to put out the fire while another crew had to remove a 37 year old man and his 6 year old son from the Tesla.
Beltran was pronounced dead at the scene. The Tesla driver was hospitalized with major injuries, and thankfully his son only had moderate injuries, according to the Modesto Bee.
CBS reported that the Tesla was found by firefighters on its wheels but having suffered major front-end damage. It was also blocking the first and second lanes of the highway. The sedan was on its right side, stuck in the center median and had also sustained major damage as well as a fire.
According to CHP officers, alcohol appears to have been a factor in this crash.
“The driver and passenger in the Tesla had to be pried out of their vehicle according to news reports,” said Turlock Tesla accident attorney Brett Schreiber. “Obviously he’d done nothing wrong, was driving in the proper lane and was likely trying to get his son home. Now, he’s in serious pain and his 6 year old was injured as well. Our hearts go out to them.”

Tesla, an American electric vehicle manufacturer, has gained attention in recent years for its innovative autonomous driving technology known as Autopilot. While Autopilot offers advanced driver assistance features, it is important to note that it is not a fully autonomous system and still requires driver supervision and intervention.
In the past, there have been reports of accidents involving Tesla vehicles, some of which have raised questions about the effectiveness and safety of autonomous driving technologies. These incidents have prompted discussions about the limitations of current self-driving systems, the need for stricter regulations, and ongoing research and development to improve safety.
It’s worth noting that accidents involving Tesla vehicles are not necessarily exclusive to Turlock, California, or Highway 99. Car accidents can happen anywhere.
Central California’s highways, including the well-traveled Interstate 5 and State Route 99, have witnessed several high-profile accidents involving Tesla vehicles. While the exact number of accidents is difficult to ascertain, it is important to note that accidents involving Teslas are not unique to this region but occur worldwide.
Central California’s varied terrain, which includes steep hills and winding roads, can pose unique challenges for any driver. Accidents involving Teslas in this region have occurred due to factors such as drunk drivers, inclement weather conditions, and other external factors. It is crucial to remember that accidents involving Tesla vehicles are not exclusive to the brand and can occur with any type of vehicle.
Accidents involving Tesla vehicles in Central California are part of a larger narrative surrounding the evolving landscape of electric and autonomous vehicles. As technology advances and more companies enter the market, it is crucial to strike a balance between innovation and ensuring public safety. Continued research, development, and collaboration among manufacturers, regulators, and drivers will be essential in minimizing accidents and maximizing the potential of electric vehicles like those produced by Tesla.
“Anyone injured by a drunk driver needs a qualified personal injury attorney,” Mr. Schreiber continued. “This man will have a legal claim against the Sedan driver. He may have other potential claims, but needs to seek out a qualified Tesla accident attorney as soon as he is healthy enough to contact one.”
